I recently bought an AMD Phenom II quad core w /8GB for my wife. She loves it. Priced cheaper than a comparable Intel chip.

I suggest Intel. But for gaming purposes only, then buy AMD.

What graphics work? Do you mean like CAD/CAM, PhotoShop, something else? Also, since Intel Core i5/i7 came out, anything AMD simply does not compare and is a waste of time and resources to buy - Intel is much faster. Sometimes the videocard is also important, the CPU alone does not make a good computer.

I am running a Intel i7 2600K CPU.

I have worked with the AMD CPU's on some boards, but mostly Intel. I looked at the new Bulldozer AMD CPU, but went with the Intel base on the performance/price I found.

For me - I seem to prefer Intel.
