At a company I do work for, two of the employees use the same email account from different computers for improved coordination. The account is provided by the ISP and must be configured in Outlook as a POP3 account. Therefore, when one employee sends an email, the message is stored to the local PST file and the other employee will not be able to see it. To overcome this problem, is there any way to synchronize the Outlook PST files between the two computers?

If synchronizing PST files is not an option, is there an alternate solution that would allow the two employees to be able to keep track of correspondence with clients?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

Have you tried to set Outlook to leave the email on the server so once you have retrieved the message the other email client can also get a copy?

Leaving messages on the Server does not help with his issue. That approach only leaves INCOMING mail on the Server.

If you read his question carefully, you will see that he is using the POP protocol and an ISP provided mail Server. His question was how to sync SENT messages between Outlook PST files. Under POP, Outlook does not deposit Sent items on the ISP's Server for subsequent download onto another mail client. If you were using IMAP then you would get MAIL items flowing like you want them. With Exchange, you not only get mail but also contacts, calendar, tasks, etc. as well.

Your options are somewhat limited with POP. You could BCC the other employee when you send messages and Forward receipts. It's tedious but would work. You can copy the entire PST file from one PC to another but you have to shutdown Outlook to do it. You can export the Outlook folder (such as the Inbox) on one PC and import into the other PC's Outlook folder.

All of these workarounds become tedious and error prone. That's why Exchange exists and it's why I am taking full advantage of it via Office365. Problem solved for $6 a month.
