In an apparent slip up, Microsoft might have inadvertently announced the official name of the next version of Exchange Server: Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. The fact that this should be the name really shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, of course, considering the expected timeframe of its release, late 2009 or early 2010.
After an update to its Download Center yesterday, the name Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 appeared in the list of Exchange downloads temporarily; see the screenshot below. During development, this release has been called by the code name Exchange 14.
