Undelete Utility. The number-one Undelete utility, according to readers, is Diskeeper's (formerly Executive Software) Undelete. The name says it all: Undelete lets you recover deleted files with just a few mouse clicks. Undelete replaces the Windows Recycle Bin with a catch-all Recovery Bin that intercepts all deleted files. You use the Recovery Bin's Windows Explorer–like interface or search capabilities to find the deleted file, then right-click the file, and select Recover. In addition, the tool's Version Protection feature lets you restore overwritten versions of Microsoft Office. You can even preview the files before recovering them so that you can find the right version. The next time you say "Oops," reach for Undelete.
