A: For both Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2, dynamic disks aren't supported. Only basic disks that can use MBR or GPT partition styles may be used. If you need to use dynamic disks, you can use Veritas Storage Foundation for Windows, which adds dynamic disk support.

In most situations, a dynamic disk isn't actually required. Large disk support over 2TB is provided by GPT disks and volumes can be expanded and shrunk using standard Windows Server 2008 R2 functionality.
