Windows Phone Wins Another Design Award

Microsoft's Windows Phone has been racking up design awards since its release in late 2010, and now it's won another, this time from the Interactive Design Association (IxDA)'s Interaction Awards in the Connecting category.

"IxDA's first annual Interaction Awards were announced last week and Windows Phone 7.5 won in the Connecting category," Microsoft's Steve Clayton writes in the Next at Microsoft blog. "The awards recognized projects from across the globe for excellence in interaction design. The winners were selected from over 300 submissions by an international panel of jurors."

Clayton notes that Windows Phone has previously won several IDEA Gold, Silver and Bronze awards.

On the Interaction Awards site, you can view Microsoft's winning entry, which incudes video and text descriptions of the advantages of Windows Phone's design. "In a market that is strongly focused on technology and apps, we chose to put design, people, and communications back at the center of the mobile experience," the entry notes. "Windows Phone is showing customers and the industry that Microsoft does care about design, experience, and making great products."

Note...that should read "IDSA", not ISDA

Last year, WP7 "won" an ISDA design award. As it turns out, Microsoft is a top-level paid sponsor of the ISDA.

This week, WP7 "won" an IXDA design award. As it turns out, Microsoft is a Gold-level paid sponsor for the IXDA.

Congrats to Microsoft for winning *cough* the best awards that money can buy...
