Defcon Buzzword Bingohttp://www.windowsitpro.com/article/news2/defcon-buzzword-bingo#commentsAnchorThu, 14 Aug 2008 16:53:54 GMT
I looked at the defcon website and noticed all the contest and events along the top of the main page. That’s classic! I’ll bet a lot of the show’s success comes from it’s "anti-show" feel. From taking only cash at the door to making vendors submit applications for approval just to get in the door. There aren’t many big shows like it.]]>

Yes they are, one of the favorite Defcon games, though it is getting hard to do, given that the Defcon crowd is aging and they dont all look like mohawk haired anarchists anymore. And as far as which security conference is the best, its really hard to say but Defcon is definately one of the best for fun and bang for the buck (costing a mere $120 cash!)]]>

Fearless Security 2008 Infosec New Years Resolutionshttp://www.windowsitpro.com/article/systems-administrator/fearless-security-2008-infosec-new-years-resolutions#commentsAnchorThu, 21 Feb 2008 14:37:50 GMT
You raise a good point, which made me wonder what the candidates’ stands are on cyber security and technology in general. A (very) quick Google search revealed that of the remaining "viable" candidates, Obama has provided the most comprehensive technology platform so far. Included on Obama’s sweeping laundry list are creating a cabinet-level CTO post and enabling universal broadband access. Clinton has said that she wants to safeguard voting machines and increase R&D. I couldn’t find any mention of cyber security or technology on Huckabee’s site. McCain wants to ban Internet taxes and give some technology-related tax credits. The candidates have said little, if anything, about cyber security per se. Maybe the nominees will have more to say on the topic after the convention, especially as voters turn their attention to the election and remember the e-voting problems that have been dogging US elections since 2000.]]>

I would think if cyber security was affected in the elections, (except Colorado who still holds true to paper ballots) then it definitely would be a top priority for every presidential candidate.]]>
