Backup Options for Large Exchange Databasehttp://www.windowsitpro.com/article/exchange-server-2007/backup-options-for-large-exchange-database#commentsAnchorSat, 24 Oct 2009 19:56:15 GMT
The sentence "LCR works by maintaining a copy of the store on a separate Exchange server" is incorrect. The author surely meant to write CCR or SCR. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125195.aspx "Local continuous replication (LCR) is a single-server solution that uses built-in asynchronous log shipping and log replay technology to create and maintain a copy of a storage group on a second set of disks that are connected to the same server as the production storage group."]]>

AD Considerations for Exchange 2007http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/dns/ad-considerations-for-exchange-2007#commentsAnchorFri, 21 Sep 2007 16:13:40 GMT
I pulled this sidebar together from Brien’s article, "Designing Active Directory for Exchange Server 2007," InstantDoc ID 96536. In the main article, what Brien says is that according to Microsoft’s recommendation, for the 8:1 ratio of Exchange cores to GC cores to be valid, you need a 64-bit Windows OS and you need enough memory to cache the entire AD database in RAM. Unfortunately, that’s not the way it comes across in the sidebar. Sorry for the confusion, and I hope this clears things up a bit. Brian Winstead Assistant Editor bwinstead@windowsitpro.com]]>

You wrote that "your GC servers must be running a 64-bit Windows OS". This is not true - the only check whether it is 64-bit is to *recommend* that you go to 64-bit. Nice article, though]]>

Hi Gerard, Thanks for your comments. Here’s Brien’s response: It is entirely possible that the process might work with Office 2003 SP1. The information that I found while researching the article indicated that it would only work with SP2, and I had no way of testing the technique with a previous service pack. Service Pack 2 was the only version for which I was able to validate that the technique worked. -- Brien Posey]]>
