Query Farm only shows my three good servers, but this fourth is really bothering me...Any ideas? If your are deploying Windows XP and you need the Citrix ICA Client to be deployed silently, here’s the best way i’ve found. 1- download the ICA Client in MSI format from www.citrix.com/download (i used the 6.20.985 for Win32) 2- create a MST (MSI Transform) from the Citrix MSI with the settings you want distributed. I created my MST with Wise for Windows Installer. 3- create a shortcut with the command line : C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiexec.exe TRANSFORMS="Citrix-ICA Client-620-R1.mst" /i "ica32.msi" /qb 4- execute the shortcut on the station the way you want. This methode is perfectly working with ZEN/Novell 4.11sp9 and also with SMS. You can even push the command line in your login script if you want.]]>

Mapping Client Drives and Printers with RDPhttp://www.windowsitpro.com/article/internals-and-architecture/mapping-client-drives-and-printers-with-rdp#commentsAnchorWed, 27 Jun 2001 18:21:07 GMT
You can map network printers when using RDP. The trick is to install this printer as local on your PC and use a NET USE to map it to a network resource. This and other common printing issues under RDP are explained (with explanations on how to fix them) on the article I wrote and posted on the newsgroups many times.]]>

If you use the net use lpt1 command to allow printing from dos programs to a network printer, how would you turn it off from a workstation which has its own printer attached to lpt1? This is what I did..net use lpt1:\\server\hpIII. Now the other workstation with its own hpIII attached will only print to the network, and not to its own local printer.]]>

In reply to this article, what denies a nonadministrator (e.g. domain user) from accessing the ODBC data sources icon in the Control Panel in TSE Server. The error message encountered is notes "ODBC can’t load the resource \WINNT\SYSTEM32". What denies the nonadministrator access to this? Thanks.]]>

Excellent article! The best coverage of ICA through firewalls that I’ve seen, with a very helpful suggestion about different ports for the same external address. didn’t mention the problem that you get if you don’t want to run UDP through the firewall at all though. That would have been nice. ]]>

Great technology! Now figure out a way to "net use LPT1: %localdefaultprinter%" where localdefaultprinter is the local machine default windows printer. This can be done manually but Win2000 administrators need a way to do in in logon scripts.]]>

The title of the article is somewhat misleading. Pretty much the entire article is devoted to ’tweaking’ the application. It’d been nice to know what was being discussed here, generally speaking. What is an .ica file, etc. I navigated to this article expecting to read about how to ’Publish an Access-Based Application on the Internet’. Thanx.]]>

This works well , with the ICA client. We have found that we can add double security to an MSAccess app by setting up Access security to the App and then publishing the app exclusively to each remote user. We create a separate shortcut for each user profile. It a remote user logs in with the login and password, he still cannot run the shortcurt to the app. Each view of the tables is restricted through the Access security. This is great for a remote sales force. Citrix is really heating things up .]]>

Compaq Insight Manager and Citrix MetaFramehttp://www.windowsitpro.com/article/installation2/compaq-insight-manager-and-citrix-metaframe#commentsAnchorMon, 06 Mar 2000 21:21:08 GMT
I think the article is mis-leading. First it’s discussed how it’s not needed to install the monitoring portion of Insight Manager, because monitoring can be done from another computer. Then you preceed to describe how to install the monitoring piece. I believe what was being asked was how to safely install the Insight agent on each of the Citrix servers, so they could be monitored by another computer in the Operations Center. So, the article should either describe only what is required for installing the agent. Or clearly seperate the two installations. Each having their own specific instructions for installing on a Citrix server.]]>

Found this article to be very timely and accurate. Followed the procedures and it worked well. However, using the silent install method via diskettes the procedure would not prompt for the second diskette so it always failed. Is there anyway to allow it to go to the second diskette? Thanks]]>
