We have to monitor and deactive inactive AD users for compliance purposesmy IT department uses the freeware version of Inactive Users Tracker (www.netwrix.com) which is very, very handy. It sends e-mail reports that highlight all accounts that have been inactive for X number of days. The enterprise version will automatically deactivate these inactive accounts, but we love the freeware version. ]]>

Windows 2000 Script Policieshttp://www.windowsitpro.com/article/system-policies/windows-2000-script-policies#commentsAnchorSun, 14 Nov 2004 11:04:32 GMT
When working with an image, Photoshop creates a temporary file on your hard drive. When you exit the program, Photoshop usually cleans up these temp files. But if Photoshop (...or more likely Windows) crashes, these files might get left on your disk. These files can be quite large, especially if you work at high resolution. And if you’ve never searched for them, they could be accumulating and taking up your disk space. To delete them from Windows 95, exit Photoshop and all programs, then search your C: drive (either through Windows Explorer or Find Files from the Start menu) for *.tmp files. Photoshop temp files are typically named something like ~PSTxxxx.tmp, where xxxx is a series of numbers. Delete any ~PSTxxxx.tmp files. You may find other files with .tmp extensions, and in most cases it’s okay to delete these too (as long as they’re not currently in use by another application - check their date and time to be sure they’re old files), but you may want to check with the developers of that software first to be sure. Great script! I need this to programmatically determine whether "Allow inheritable permissions..." is turned on, since neither XCACLS.EXE nor XCACLS.VBS reports this. I modified the script to accept input arguments. The only other comment is that this script will fail if the target folder contains a single quote. I changed the wmiSecuritySettings instantiation to use double quotes (instead of single quotes) around the folder name. Under WMI syntax, however, this requires "escaping" the backslash character, so I use the Replace function to swap single backslashes for double backslashes (note that vbTextCompare is a system constant with a value of 1): SpecialStrFolder = Replace(strFolder, "\", "\\", 1, -1, vbTextCompare) Set wmiSecuritySettings = wmiServices.Get _ ("Win32_LogicalFileSecuritySetting.Path=""" & SpecialStrFolder & """")]]>
