The RDS exploit is blocked by WebEnforcer in two ways: 1) installation of the appropriate patch as recommended by one of the rules, 2) activation of a profile containing the "Disable RDS" rule. The profiles chosen by the author don’t include this rule by default. Also, the product does contain links directly to hotfixes on Microsoft’s website from that rule’s configuration property page.]]>

The reviewer enabled the profile and says his system was still vulnerable to the (well-known) RDS exploit. It’s important to note that under normal circumstances, an administrator would see that at least one item on the enable report failed (in this case, not all hotfixes were applied) and the admin would load the hotfixes and scan the system again, etc, until the report shows no problems. At this point the RDS exploit would fail.]]>
