Sure, SQL Server 2008 R2 a much much better then he`s predecessor but still has many thing which I`m not into. It was really challenging to me to start using it. Some little features was developed on a different new (really usability but still different) so I was forced to read term papers about it]]>

SharePoint Behind the Scenes: An Interview with Microsoft's Kirk Koenigsbauer http://www.windowsitpro.com/blog/sharepoint-advisor-blog-26/sharepoint/sharepoint-behind-the-scenes-an-interview-with-microsofts-kirk-koenigsbauer--137080#commentsAnchorWed, 22 Sep 2010 07:42:11 GMT
I am doing my best to sell this extraordinary platform to potential users within my organization, who can benefit from it. I always insist on the increased productivity levels that they would experience upon adopting SharePoint (no more shared folders, duplicate documents, and things like that), not to mention the associated metadata and other powerful features that come with the product.
I have been excited about the new features of SP 2010 (unfortunately there is not too much documentation out there yet). However, I’ve had the opportunity to evaluate the product in a test server environment that a friend of mine put together for me, and it really looks promising to an extent (I might be wrong, maybe it’s my lack of knowledge of it) but I observed a couple of details that Microsoft left unattended. 1) The user interface (aka the ribbon) was designed for developers in mind, not for regular users; 2) To do simple things like removing "the recently changed documents or components" the regular user has to become a developer to understand a piece of code to be included in a CEWP to remove this annoying quick launch menu options (could’nt Microsoft just include this as a clickable option somewhere instead?). Again, I evangelize SharePoint, I have been doing it since its early versions 2003, 2007 and now 2010; However, Microsoft does not seem to get it yet! What it really counts at the end of the day, it is to empower the end user to do things with simplicity, if you really want to foster a collaboration environment. Thanks for listening.

TechEd 2008 Devs and Admins: Better Together or Better Apart?http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/conferences-and-trade-shows/teched-2008-devs-and-admins-better-together-or-better-apart-#commentsAnchorWed, 11 Jun 2008 20:06:09 GMT
The simplest things can really make a difference. Just sharing information in either direction during the early stages of a project can alleviate the tension considerably. Who do you think would be more upset - the admin that finds out 1 week before a new in-house app goes live that she needs to commission 3 new servers, or the developer that has to code through the night to fix a problem with a critical cheque run because the infrastructure group rolled out new incompatible printers without investigating what they were used for and testing accordingly? To be fair, in general I have found that the developer side of the fence tend to enter into this communication more often than their admin counterparts - not because developers are inherently better at this, but because their projects are usually run by a professional project manager. High level management often seem to think it unnecessary to run infrastructure projects in the same way, expecting the person implementing the change to somehow inherently have all the skills and experience of a project manager in addition to their technical skills. Running any project well requires a project manager with suitable training.]]>
