Reinstalling Norton SystemWorks 2002

I recently tried to upgrade my notebook from Windows 2000 to Windows XP. The upgrade didn't work, and I had to reinstall Win2K. Everything seemed to work fine after the reinstallation except that I can't properly install Symantec's Norton SystemWorks 2002. When I boot the laptop, SystemWorks 2002's antivirus software displays a message that says that the subscription service can't be read and that I need to reinstall the program. I've reinstalled the program without success. Any idea what's wrong?

The same thing happened to me (including XP installation failure). In fact, this problem with SystemWorks 2002 didn't surface until people began installing XP. When you uninstall SystemWorks 2002, a directory remains. You must remove the LiveReg directory, which is in the \Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared directory. After you remove LiveReg, you can reinstall SystemWorks 2002 properly.
