A. XP SP2 lets you run two sessions (one local console and one remote desktop) concurrently. You must use a different user for each session. To enable concurrent sessions, perform the following steps:

  1. Start a registry editor (e.g., regedit.exe).
  2. Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\Licensing Core registry subkey.
  3. From the Edit menu, select New, DWORD Value.
  4. Enter the name "EnableConcurrentSessions," then press Enter.
  5. Double-click the new value, then set it to 1.

So basically if your on a Domain this is not going to work since there is no Fast User Switching?

Sure it is... start-run-gpedit.msc->computer configuration->administrative templates->windows components->terminal services->limit number of connections - it's all there...

I get it work using the mentioned methods. Still, it is not possible to log more than two users. Is there any registry entry to enable more than two user logins?

Cool! It works fine, but we can connect only 3 users simultaneous, please someone knows how to connect more users? Post it!

I really had my hopes up when Paul Thurrott mentioned SP2 whold have concurrent sessions, latter he said that Microsoft had left this feature out. Thanks to Tommy's posting above, using the termsrv.dll he mentions works in the released (non beta) version of SP2! I would suggest haveing a backup copy of both the version 2055 and the 2600.2180 in case of problems. Fast User Switching is required (use settings->control panel-> user acounts, change the way users log on or off), but, you can leave Tweak UI's "logon automatically at system startup" on for quicker startups.
No other changes like gpedit.msc are needed, just the regedit in the answer at the answer at the top of this post.

If it is part of a domain, Fast User Switching is disabled, and therefore so is Concurrent Users.

Unfortunately this feature only applies to a particular beta (2052?). You must use the termsrv.dll from this version in order for the feature to work.

I tried this and it doesnt work. I downloaded my copy off TechNet. I have build 2096.

I remember posting here before with nothing showing up... anyway, make sure you copy the termsrv.dll from 2055, and also make sure that Fast User Switching and the Welcome screen are enabled.
