After Microsoft refused to join Sun Microsystems' Liberty Alliance Project, which seeks to create a single sign-on (SSO) and authentication system for the Internet and which would compete with Microsoft .NET Passport, Sun launched a tit-for-tat response, refusing to join Microsoft's and IBM's Web Services Interoperability Organization (WS-I), which plans to create interoperability standards for Web services. Sun, of course, is familiar with snubbing standards: It's yanked its Java programming language away from standards bodies several times. But seriously, guys: Maybe it's time that we all just got along.
