Burning files to a CD-ROM

A neighbor called to ask for help. He'd spent the previous day burning CDs to back up important files, and when he booted his computer the next day he saw a message telling him that he had files waiting to burn to a CD. He decided to ignore the message, but when he tried to burn a new CD, the message reappeared and he couldn't copy new files for the new burn. (He used the built-in Windows CD recording feature.) He asked, "Where are these files that are waiting, and how do I get rid of them?" Can you answer his question?

How to Play the Reader Challenge Game
Solve this month's UPDATE challenge, and you might win a prize! Email your solution (don't use an attachment) to challenge@windowsitpro.com by April 21, 2009. You MUST include your full name, street mailing address (no P.O. Boxes), and a telephone number. Without that information, we can't send you a prize if you win, so your answer is eliminated, even if it’s correct. I choose winners at random from the pool of correct entries. I’m a sucker for humor and originality, and a cleverly written correct answer gets an extra chance. Because I receive so many entries each month, I can't reply to respondents, and I never respond to a request for an email receipt. Look for the solutions to this month's problem at Instant Doc ID 101913 on April 22, 2009.

February 2009 Reader Challenge Winner
(We took a vacation in March, so there's no March winner.) Congratulations to Keith Hubbard of Wyoming, the winner of our February 2009 Reader Challenge. He wins a copy of Windows Server 2008: The Definitive Guide from O'Reilly Media.
