Rating: (3)

In the race for Best Financial Application, placement among the top three contenders was close, with winner Epicor Software's Epicor Financials Suite topping third-place winner (and last year's winner in this category) ACCPAC Advantage Series by only 7 percent of the total vote. One reader who endorsed Epicor Financials Suite commented simply, "It's the best."

Epicor Financials Suite is a robust, scalable solution that integrates accounting applications for midmarket organizations, enabling multicompany and multicurrency global accounting. Epicor Financials Suite modules provide core accounting functionality, including accounts payable and accounts receivable and asset, cash, and currency management. The Epicor General module lets you construct a chart of accounts that matches your organizational structure, simplifying intercompany transactions and month- and year-end closings. The Advanced Allocations module automates journal allocations and accruals, eliminating redundancy in spreadsheet and side systems and allowing trial allocations and accruals without the requirement of committing to an accounting transaction.

Not sure how you can say Epicor on their last legs. Just last week they posted a 46% Rise in Q2 Sales, causing their stock to jump. Looking at the stock price, it had risen steadily for last 3 years and then settling down over the last year.

Also, though their Financial are still Client/Server most of their other systems are .NET. My understanding is that the Financials are being moved to the .NET platform as well. This is not uncommon given that the front-office technology is really what needs to be web-based. In our company, only a small percentage of the users would need to use the client-server Financials app while everyone else can use the Web portals.

Not sure who wrote this review. As a company ePicor is on it's last legs and will likely be acquired by one of the "big boys" resulting in a questionable future for their incompatible lineup. In addition, their code is some of the oldes technology shipping today.

Epicor has always been the best in relation to a general ledger and multi-currency package!
