Unauthorized access to confidential data is a serious concern for individuals and corporations. Some OSs (e.g., Windows 95, Windows for Workgroups—WFW) offer no security, and Windows NT systems are at risk when administrators don’t properly implement security. Intruders can bypass NT security with tools such as Systems Internal’s NTFSDOS (http://www.sysinternals.com) that let them read files you protect with earlier versions of NTFS.
