Since their inception in June 2008, the Microsoft Certified Master (MCM) certifications have earned enough popularity to prompt Microsoft to further invest in the program. Microsoft today announced that it is expanding available MCM certifications to include Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Additionally, Exchange 2010 and SharePoint 2010 programs will be released in early next year.
Why earn an MCM? IT pros with this credential stand out from the crowd of experienced, certified professionals already on the job market. By earning an MCM, you prove that you have been tested in all of the basic competencies of that subject matter, and have learned advanced techniques and skills, which should give your employer (or any potential employer, if you're a consultant) confidence that you can handle deployment or management of a given infrastructure/program.
Combining these with the already-available programs, MCM certifications currently available are:
- Exchange Server 2007
- Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007
- Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
- SQL Server 2008
- Windows Server 2008 Active Directory
To date, Microsoft has given more than 350 MCM certifications to IT pros. And between now and January 1, 2010, Microsoft is offering a 20 percent discount on all MCMs.
