To use Windows SharePoint Services' site search, you must choose the Server
Farm setup option during Windows SharePoint Services installation so that you
can later specify the path to the Microsoft SQL Server instance that will host
Windows SharePoint Services. To configure Windows SharePoint Services to use
the SQL Server Full-Text Search component, navigate to the Windows SharePoint
Services Central Administration—Configure Full-Text Search page and select
the Enable full-text search and index component check box. Site search is available
only through SQL Server, not through Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE).
