When one of the virtual groups in the Windows Server 2003 MSCS cluster owns more than two virtual IP addresses and the
Windows Time service is working in NT5DS mode, you receive multiple errors in the System event log
that are similar to:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: W32Time
Event ID: 29
Description: The time provider NtpClient is configured to acquire time from one or more time sources,
however none of the sources are currently accessible. No attempt to contact a source will be made for 15 minutes.
NtpClient has no source of accurate time.
To workaround this behavior, make sure that the Windows Time service is working in NTP (Network Time Protocol) mode:
1. Open a CMD.exe window on the PDC emulator.
2. Type the following commands and pressing Enter after each line:
net stop W32Time
REG ADD HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters /V Type /T REG_SZ /F /D "NTP"
net start W32Time
