Finding the Answer to a Word 2002 Error

When I close Microsoft Word 2002, I occasionally get the following error: Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. What's causing this error?

Installing Word 2002 and Adobe Systems' Adobe Acrobat 5.0 on the same PC can lead to this error. (According to Microsoft, Adobe is working on resolving the problem.) As a workaround, rename the pdfmaker.dot file (in the \program files\microsoftoffice\office\startup directory) to pdfmaker.bak (or another name that identifies the file as inactive).
