Make the Connection

To see the connection between System Policy Editor (SPE) and the registry, open SPE and choose a category, then open the template and find the code that implements the choices you see in SPE. For example, Figure A shows the SPE section on Shell restrictions for users. The code that Figure B shows is part of the Common.adm template and implements those choices. The template's syntax and arrangement are straightforward (and the format of the syntax creates the display in the software window that Figure A shows).
