Microsoft UK SharePoint Server product manager Steve Marsh is joining the speaker line-up for SharePoint Summit '09 at the Radisson Edwardian Heathrow Hotel on Thursday, May 7 in Hayes, Middlesex, UK.

SharePoint Summit '09 is a joint presentation between Microsoft and Windows IT Pro. Sponsors include AvePoint and Content and Code. Marsh will present "Catching up with SharePoint" which will address the flurry of recent SharePoint announcements, cover PerformancePoint and discuss the capabilities Microsoft subsidiary FAST brings to the table.

In a separate development, Windows IT Pro, which was already offering SharePoint Summit '09 registrees a free year's digital subscription, has added a copy of its Fundamentals Series SharePoint CD – worth £99 – to each attendee's goodie bag. Tickets for the one-day conference and expo are just £49 (GBP).

Heading up the show will be Hawaii-based guru Dan Holme who will be returning to the UK after the success of his "Scoring with SharePoint" conference in Manchester last year. As well as being a Microsoft MVP, Holme is a contributing editor to Windows IT Pro magazine and runs his own consultancy, Intelliem.

In his keynote session, "SharePoint Takes the Gold", Holme will explain which SharePoint scenarios are well-supported out of the box and which are more complex to implement. SharePoint is not a silver bullet, he will point out, so third-party plug-ins and other solutions will be discussed throughout the day.

His other seminars will include sessions on how to implement SharePoint governance, key administration skills that address collaboration, business process automation, search, and integration with Office 2007. The latter session will focus the types of solutions that deliver maximum value with minimum effort.

For the full agenda, further details and registration, see the SharePoint Summit '09 website.

Microsoft SharePoint partners interested in sponsoring/exhibiting at SharePoint Summit '09 should contact show director Craig Watson via email or by 'phone on +44 (0)161 929 2800.
