Network Associates (NAI) announced that the company will sell its Sniffer product line, focus exclusively on security solutions, and change its name to McAfee, Inc. The company is entering into a deal to sell the Sniffer technology for $275 million to Silver Lake Partners (SLP) and Texas Pacific Group (TPG). Once the deal is complete NAI will then change its name. SLP and TPG will form a new company, Network General Corporation, which will continue to develop and market the Sniffer products.
