Some people think Windows Vista's new User Access Control (UAC) feature is more than a bit painful to endure. This leads to the question of whether you should disable it.

You can disable UAC in variety of ways, including editing the registry, using msconfig, via the control panel, or via group policy settings. If you want step-by-step instructions then check out Daniel Petri's blog where he shows you how.

Before you do that though you might want to read what Jesper Johansson (Senior Security Strategist, Security Technology Unit at Microsoft) has to say about the matter. Johansson wrote about the ramifications of disabling UAC in a recent entry to his blog and what he says may give you reason to leave it enabled, even if that means you must continue to endure the associated annoyances.
