Microsoft announced that it will phase out support for Windows NT Server 4.0, beginning January 1, 2003. As of that date, customers will be unable to get free NT 4.0 hotfixes. As of January 1, 2004, the company will cease making NT 4.0 hotfixes available altogether and will stop supporting the product. Interestingly, Microsoft just ended its support for the older NT Server 3.5x products a few months ago. People out there are still running NT 3.5x?

I was catching up on my reading, when I came across your April 2002 Windows & .NET Mag. In there I found an article "NT Server 4.0 on the Way Out" by Paul Thurrott InstantDoc ID 24246, about Microsoft not supporting NT Server 4.0 and cease making NT 4.0 hotfixes availible altogether.

I search Microsoft's web site about this issue and on there web site - "http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/ProductInfo/Availability/Retiring.asp",
they said "Security updates will continue to be free of charge at a minimum through January 1, 2004. We will provide customers at least a year’s notice before we cease security support."

    Who is right???
