When you view the Properties of your Local Area Connection and select the Advanced tab, you receive:

Windows cannot display the Properties of this connection. The Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) information might be corrupted.

NOTE: See A Description of the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI).

To fix this problem, use either of the following:

How do I restore Windows XP to a previous state?

How do I perform an in-place upgrade (re-installation) of Windows XP?

NOTE: see An alternate method of recovering from 'The Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) information might be corrupted' when you view network properties in Windows XP.
