Q. If I create a new Windows Server 2008 R2 forest and select Windows Server 2008 R2 Forest mode, is the Active Directory (AD) Recycle Bin enabled automatically?

A. No. Optional features are never enabled automatically. You need to enable the AD Recycle Bin manually, using the Enable-ADOptionalFeature cmdlet or LDP.
