Microsoft strove to ensure that the first release of Windows NT contained an array of networking options out of the box. NT's debut in 1993, with version 3.1, fulfilled NT's promise as an OS that is ready for peer...

I had this problem. Make sure Settings > Control Panel > Network Connections > Local Area Connection > Service Advertising Protocol is checked on each computer in the system. This was a difficult snag to solve. MS tech support wasn't able to solve this one but I found it on my own. Hope it helps.

I am having the same problem with my Workstation service as mentioned by Warren Franks. Has anyone seen this problem before?

Adam6/21/2004 12:01:33 AM

I am running XP home edition on my computer. I have a simple peer-to-peer network of two XP's and a win98. Computer #1 is an XP, computer #2 is an XP, computer #3 is a win98. Computer #2 & #3 can see computer #1 and can access files on it. Computer #1 cannot access either of the two other computers. When I try to access the two other computers I get an erro message that says:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Workstation
Event Category: None
Event ID: 5727
Date: 3/2/2004
Time: 11:29:03 AM
User: N/A

Could not load RDR device driver.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Data:

The workstation does not load.
Can you suggest a resolution to this problem?
