Take a look at this long-awaited NT technology
As with many technologies, what's new in computing is often old, and the trend toward empowering users with high-maintenance, powerful PCs is weakening. Many IS managers are realizing that centralized management with a single mainframe and users connected via thin clients has advantages over a sprawling client/server installation. With centralized management, systems administrators can maintain a few servers and minimal-intervention clients instead of worrying about administering and upgrading software across hundreds or thousands of computers.

OK, good article, but a question- Company where I'm assigned is dumping dial-in access as we currently have it in favor of Terminal Server (we won't have e-mail access however.) I'm running WinME. Everything I've been reading on this talks about NT, 2K & XP but at the same time says all you need is modem, mouse, tcp/ip connection.
So, will I need an OS upgrade or not?

Thanks
Bob

Your Comments (required):I really like your article! I have been trying to find out how to have multiple users logged into the same session. I know I could not do that in NT but it is my understanding that 2000 Terminal Server can support this fuction, but I can't seem to find out how to do it or even where to go to find out. Could you help?

HI,
this article is really superb..it really gives in depth process of termserv.exe..

but here i have a scenario. could you please give me the solution
Scenario:
we have a windows terminal server ver 4.0 on which citrix is installed so whenever the users logs on to this citrix server & starts working it works fine..but after some time
if any one end user gets an Dr.Watson error the csrss.exe reaches 100% on server & it cannot be killed . the only solution is to restart the server .. but this leads all the other end users to stop their work unsaved .

please suggest any solution to rectify this problem.
waiting for your reply

thanks & regards
rajiv

Dear Sir,
I have a Windows 2000 server with Terminal Server running condition.
When client connect the Terminal Server via rdp protocol, the application launched automatically.
Windows Terminal should close or disconnect upon application ends.
These services came to an halt after I had install Citrix Metaframe XP.
My Citrix Metaframe works in good condition.
But my Terminal Server came out with this problem :-
Client's can connect to the terminal server via rdp protocol, launched the program successfully,
but the session did not quit even the application had closed.

Please advice...

Best Regards.
