If you've got a trumpet fanfare sound effect, prepare to play it now: Microsoft has released Exchange Server 2007 SP1 as of today! Paul Robichaux and other writers here at Windows IT Pro have been writing about this update for months already, so you probably have a good idea what to expect:

  • support for Windows Server 2008 deployments
  • standby continuous replication (SCR)
  • improved unified messaging (UM) and integration with Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007
  • public folder access through OWA
  • public folder management through Exchange Management Console
  • improvements to Exchange ActiveSync for end users and administrators
SP1 includes many other features and fixes as well. You can download SP1 from Microsoft.

And here are some articles you'll find about SP1 and some of its exciting features:

"What to Expect from Exchange 2007 SP1"

"Exchange 2007 SP1: The Inside Scoop"

"SCR in the Spotlight"

"S/MIME and Exchange 2007 SP1"

And finally, coming in the January 2008 issue of Windows IT Pro, you can expect to see a comprehensive overview of Exchange 2007 SP1 from Exchange expert Kieran McCorry.
