I recently had trouble setting up a Hewlett-Packard (HP) OfficeJet 1150c network printer on a Windows 2000 Professional PC. The network print server is a Windows NT 4.0 system. The problem was that the Win2K PC couldn't find the printer's drivers on the print server.

I used the following steps to solve this problem: I looked in the \%systemroot%\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86 folder on both the print server and the Win2K PC for a folder that existed on the PC but not on the print server. (This folder contains the additional drivers for different OSs or, in this case, an earlier version of the OS.) I copied the folder's files, which Figure 1 lists, to the \%systemroot%\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86 folder on the print server. The PC was then able to find a copy of the necessary drivers on the print server, and I successfully set up the network printer on the Win2K PC.
